Ayra Starr and ZAYN step away from the usual dancefloor rush on Heaven Baby, pairing her warm vocal tone with ZAYN’s falsetto on a tender pop and R&B ballad.

Heaven Baby centres on the kind of attraction that makes someone feel almost unreal. Calling a person “heaven” is familiar language for describing a love that feels rare, peaceful, or simply too good to explain normally. It is romantic without needing to make the idea complicated.

The production is notably sparse, built around piano with very little rhythmic clutter. That choice puts the two voices under the spotlight. Ayra’s warmer tone gives the opening its softness, while ZAYN comes in with a lighter falsetto that changes the colour of the record. Their voices work especially well when the arrangement brings them together, because the contrast is clear without either singer sounding out of place. The track is also brief, so it gets to its central idea quickly and leaves before the arrangement has a chance to become overworked.

The collaboration sits on Ayra Starr’s third studio album, Starrgirl, released on August 14, 2026. The 16-track project moves across Afropop, Afrobeats, contemporary R&B, and pop, making this quieter meeting with ZAYN one of the album’s more intimate moments.

What stays with you is how little the record needs to make its point. There is no crowded beat trying to create excitement. It is mostly two recognisable voices, a piano-led arrangement and a romantic idea allowed to breathe. That simplicity makes it easy to picture as a late-night listen when the person on your mind is the only thing getting your attention.
