Masicka – Its Not Too Late

goes for a more hopeful message on Its Not Too Late, speaking to that point where you look at your situation and realise there is still time to change what comes next.

There are days when a mistake feels permanent. You lose somebody, waste an opportunity, fall behind on a goal or spend too long doing something that is not good for you. But “not too late” is the kind of reminder people give themselves when they decide the past does not have to control the next move.

Masicka keeps the vocal at the centre, delivering the record with the seriousness that comes from talking about real consequences. The rhythm gives it forward motion, but the instrumental does not fight for attention. There is enough space around his voice for the words to carry the weight, and the melodic touches soften some of the harder edges in the production. I like that the record does not need to sound overly dramatic to get its point across. The message works because it feels like something you would tell a friend who has started believing they have already missed their chance.

That is probably where the record connects best. Life does not always give people a clean restart, but people still get opportunities to make a different decision. Sometimes it is calling someone you hurt, going back to a goal you abandoned or simply deciding to stop wasting more time. The past may be fixed, but the next part of the story is not.
